Stila eyeshadow palette

I was so disappointed by this =(

Stila is supposed to be such a good quality brand, I mean they charge insane prices so they should probably be super good right?  This palette also came with a kajal eyeliner pencil of theirs and that was pretty bad too, I gave the liner away!  I don’t know why they charge so much for their stuff but it’s definitely not worth it in my opinion! (at least for the shadows because that’s all I’ve really tried from the brand)  I got this set on clearance for $10 but if I had paid any more than that this would have been sent right back to Sephora for a refund! (they do that by the way-it’s awesome!!! even if you already used the products!!)

The shadows are a matte powdery white pink, a slightly shimmery light brown, and a dark brown maroon.  The middle color looks soooo pretty in the pan but it does NOT show up like that at all!  It shows up a light brown with a tiny bit of shimmer to it.  I was so mad!  Even with a primer it takes tons of layers to get the color to show up at all!  The pink does not show up pink at all and it barely shows up white either, there’s really no reason to even touch that color since you can’t tell at all that I even used anything.  The maroon looking color is more like a dark brown with a reddish tint to it.  It shows up very pigmented but I don’t really like it.  It’s way too dark on my light skin tone and it sucks as a liner because it’s so powdery it just doesn’t work right and it wears off very easily.  So I tried to use it wet as a liner…I got my liner brush damp and ran it through the shadow and it still looked bad.  I barely ever touch this palette but I was so excited to get it I can’t part ways with it yet.  I probably should have returned it =(

Too Faced Leopard Bronzer

Isn’t this so cute??!!

I had been wanting to try this bronzer forever!  It’s not too dark so it’s perfect for lighter skin tones.  They actually used to sell it in this little size too and a bigger size.  They don’t sell the little size on Sephora anymore but the big size is $28.  That’s a little much for a bronzer but so far I have not found another bronzer that comes in this cute leopard print with the pink, light brown, and champagne shimmery bronze colors.  It shows up on me like I mixed a light bronzer and a pink blusher together so pretty!!!

The colors in this are sooo nice and they go perfectly together when you swirl your brush all over.  UNFORTUNATELY it’s way too shimmery =( when I put this on my cheeks it makes my pores look HUGE!  If I use a very small amount it doesn’t do it as bad but at the same time you don’t get to see all the gorgeous colors.

I use this as a highlighter sometimes and it looks really cute all swirled together as a summery colored eye shadow.  I’m just so sad it’s not flattering on me…stupid pores!  I still use it every now and then though, I’m just really careful with the amount and if I happen to use too much on accident I just put an HD pore minimizing powder over it and it helps a lot.

I would have been a loyal purchaser of this product if it weren’t for the shimmery pores problem.  Hopefully someday they listen to their fans and make a matte version because if you read the product reviews for this on the Sephora site a lot of people have the same problem.  If I find a copy for this I will totally be trying that out and reviewing it!

Too Faced eye shadow quad

These are some of the Too Faced eye shadows I have.  They do not normally come in compacts like this!  This is something that came in a special holiday gift set I got for my birthday last year so it’s special edition.

I like all of these colors and they look like they would go together because they’re all pretty much browns, but I don’t know…they just don’t look good all together.  You get a matte light brown color, a light blackish brown color with big chunks of glitter in it, a shimmery dark brown color, and a frosty shimmery light pink color.

They’re all very good quality and super pigmented just like all of Too Faced’s shadows.  The compact that it’s in is the compact that almost all of their other face powder products come in (I’m referring to my post about the special edition compact I got with my snow bunny bronzer-it would normally come in this same black compact too)

The color I use most out of this palette is the shimmery dark brown.  It’s good for using just on the lid, it’s a fast and easy look but still looks nice and made up.  I like to use the matte brown as a crease color along with a creamy beige or white color on my lid.  The pink is good as a highlight or all over lid color.  I usually use the dark glittery color as a liner but when I want something dramatic for going out I use it all over my lid and on my lower lash line.  I have to be really careful when I use the glittery dark one because there’s lots of fallout-the glitter chunks get all over my cheeks and when I try to brush them away they leave behind streaks of eye shadow.

This doesn’t have a price because it came with a set but the amount of product that each shade comes in is about the same amount as a normal eye shadow you can purchase by itself from Too Faced.  A single eye shadow or an eye shadow duo from Too Faced are $17 each.  That’s too much for me to spend on 1 or 2 shades at a time so I really really like Too Faced shadow palettes.  I still haven’t gotten the new huge fairy themed palette with 15 shadows I said I wanted for Christmas so I guess I’m going to wait for that even though my husband probably has no idea how to get it for me and I bet he forgot that I even wanted it!!!  I’ll probably end up buying it for myself LOL

Tarte Cheek Stain

This is a mini version of a Tarte cheek stain in the color true love.  These are so unique!  They’re gel blushes that you can also use on your lips, but when I tried that it tasted so bad!  It has like a lemon pine sol type smell and when my tongue touched this on my lips it started burning!  So no…I just use this on my cheeks only!

It’s a little difficult to apply because it’s a hard gel and isn’t smooth or creamy so you really have to rub hard to get it to transfer.  It doesn’t work so well when I try to put it on my fingers first because it’s hard to blend in.  So I just rub the stick right on to the apples of my cheeks and blend it out.  It’s hard to blend though because of what it’s made out of I guess.  It feels sticky and doesn’t want to move around.

The color looks super bright and dark in the tube but when it’s on your skin it looks very natural.  It almost looks like I’m realy blushing and it’s so cute!  I really like the color.  I think it’s a good color for pale skin tones.  They have a lot of different colors to choose from ranging from lighter than this to much darker than this so there’s something for everyone.

I liked this so much I looked into how much it would cost to replace it when I ran out or to try out other colors, they don’t sell mini versions and a full sized stick is $30.  That definitely sounds like a lot BUT when you really think about it, it’s worth it.  The full size version of this is HUGE it’s like 3 or 4 times the size of my little one.  Now my little one has lasted for soooo long and I still have a lot left to use, so the big version seems like it would be a life time supply!!  A little goes a long way because you don’t ever want to use too much blush, it looks so rediculous and clownish=very bad.

The swatch on my hand makes the color look very sheer but on my cheeks it shows up more.  This stuff is really great like that though, you can use a tiny little bit or you can layer and layer until you get the look you want.  I really like this stuff and wish it was a little cheaper.  The closest copy I have found to these are the all over color sticks by elf for $1.  The elf ones are not gel though, they are creamy so they’re more like a dupe of Nars multiple sticks but you know, whatever, it’s all blush and it all makes your cheeks pink =P

Sephora brand eye shadow

So I’m starting to realize that Sephora brand stuff is not the greatest!

Their stuff is more affordable but compared to the other brands they sell it’s kind of crap.  Even drug store brands are better quality than Sephora brand.

I got this eyeshadow as a free sample with one of my orders.  It’s a peachy champagne color and I thought it would be one of those nice sweep and go neutrals.  I put this all over my eye and concentrated most of it on my lid area.  I had to use a lot to get anything to show up, even with a primer, so the pigmentation and the quality is not that great.  After I layered tons of it on it was still barely noticable.  You can see a lot of frosty shimmer but not really any color.  I tried to use this just as a highlight under my brow bone so that it wouldn’t go to waste but it hardly showed up there either.  Oh well, it was free!  But I know I won’t be buying any of these from Sephora especially not for $12 each!  That’s way too high of a price because you can get a lot of drug store brands for less than that and they are better quality and actually show up!!

Lorac Perfectly Lit

This is the perfectly lit mini in the color spotlight.  I got this for free but the full sized version is $32…ugh.  It’s an illuminizing powder that I use a few different ways. The swatch on my finger makes it look really dark almost like a powder foundation shade but it’s not, it doesn’t show up any color at all.  Most of the time I take an angled blush brush and sweep this across my cheek bones as a highlighter.  Sometimes I just take a big fluffy powder brush and lightly dust it all over my face for a shimmery glow, but when I do this I have to be very careful to only use a little bit because this stuff can be very shimmery.  A few times I have used it as an eye shadow base and a highlight for a smokey look and it turned out pretty nice.  This is an itty bitty compact but I still have so much left so a little goes a long way.  I like this power a lot and I tried to find a copy on elf for cheaper…I may have found one for $1 but I’m not sure if the color is the same so I’ll have to wait and see and then update everyone on it!

This powder does a much better job as an illuminator than the candle light powder.  I think the candle light powder is more for setting foundation like the way I use it and this powder is more for the shimmer and the glow effect.

All these wonderful free mini versions I get from Sephora drive me crazyyyy because the products are wonderful but they’re a lot of money for a full size.  I try so hard to use them sparingly so I never run out LOL.  If I ran out of this and I really really liked it I would probably spring for it and treat myself hehehe because for certain items it’s worth it if it really works well and I really like it.  Wish I didn’t feel so guilty afterwards though haha

Lorac Eyeshadow

This is the only eyeshadow by Lorac that I own.  It’s in the color Serenity.  It looked like a nice neutral shimmery beige color but when I got it and swatched it and actually used it on my eyes, it looked way different.

Certain shades of bronze, champagne, and gold just look way too orange on my eyelids.  It must be my skin tone or something but it looks bad.  This color looks a little too orangey on me.  If I use it with a primer to make it last all day, primers make eye shadows pigments more intense also, so primer makes the color look even more orange on me.  If I use the color very lightly as a base or as a highlight on my eyes then it looks alright like the normal champagne color I was expecting.  But that’s not what I got this eye shadow for so it really sucks.  I wanted it for sweeping all over my lid, putting on mascara, and heading out the door.  That was my every day look when I was in highschool when I had to wake up at 5am every morning LOL it was so fast and easy but at the same time I looked really nice and put together.  Oh well, I can always hunt for one of the Cover Girl champagne shades I used to use for that!  Probably much cheaper too since a Lorac eye shadow costs $18!

Korres Soft Eyeliner Pencil

Like I mentioned in my last post, if you want to spend more for an expensive brand pencil liner, they are usually higher quality and don’t hurt your eye lids when you use them.  Korres liners are so soft and smooth and go on very easily, but they cost $16 each.  That is way too much for a small pencil and I did not spend that much on this LOL I actually got this in a kit like I usually do (because I get a way better deal that way!)

The one I have is in gold and it really doesn’t show up that well.  This light yellowish gold color is more for brightening your eyes, making them look bigger and more awake, and for highlighting the eye area like under the brow bone or around the tear duct.

I use this on my waterline and lower lash line when I wear darker eye makeup because wearing too much dark makeup on your eyes can make your eyes look smaller and closed.  With the bright pop of gold on my waterline, as close to my actual eye as I can possibly get, it opens my eyes back up immediately and you can definitely tell a difference.

The only problem with this stuff is that it wears off very fast.  I think because it’s so soft and smooth it really doesn’t last long.  I haven’t tried any darker colors so it could also be because the color I have is so light to begin with.  Because this wears off I don’t use it that much.  I usually use a white eyeliner pencil on my waterline and it lightens up my dark makeup but it’s more noticable.  You can actually see the white if you look right at it, but with the gold all you see is lightness and shimmer so I do prefer the gold one except it doesn’t last long enough.

Sephora Liner Electro

Sephora actually makes and sells it’s own brand of makeup also, and I have an eyeliner pencil made by Sephora.  It’s in a copper color, and the color itself is alright but the quality of the pencil sucks.  It’s really hard and rough and I don’t ever use it because it tugs and pulls on my skin and takes a lot of effort to get it to show up.  Most inexpensive eye liners that come in pencil form do this.  I get my eye liners in that twist up pen style where it’s still thin like a pencil but there’s no wood and you never have to sharpen it.  They’re usually a lot smoother and softer and don’t hurt your eye lids.

Sephora brand liner electro pencils cost $8 so they’re one of the cheaper items from Sephora.  I wouldn’t buy any more of these because you can find pencil and pen style liners in drugstores for the same price (or at elf for $1-$3!)  If you want to spend more money on a more expensive more quality brand of makeup, their pencil style liners are usually much smoother and go on a lot easier and look better too.  I wouldn’t recommend buying pencil liners from Sephora’s brand because there are SO many more affordable options every where else.  I have a pencil liner coming from elf because I wanted to check out the quality of them and see if they were hard like these so I can’t wait for all my elf stuff to get here!!!

Korres Lip Butter

These are super nice pigmented lip balms from Korres.  And they’re such a good price!  $10 each at Sephora!  You get a lot of product in these and you can also use them as blushes, a little goes a long way so they are very long lasting too and definitely worth $10!!!!

The colors I have are pomegranite (lighter pink), quince (darker pinkish fushia), and jasmine which is a super light pink that really doesn’t show up any color at all on my lips.  They each have their own unique scent too.  The pomegranite faintly smells like fruit mixed with flowers, the quince smells almost like roses, and the jasmine smells like cotton candy!  I always carry jasmine around with me in my purse because the color doesn’t show up on me so it’s good for refreshing lip gloss or just to have something on.

It says that they are supposed to be very moisturizing but on me they really aren’t moisturizing at all.  They don’t soak into my skin or anything and if my lips felt dry before I put them on, they still feel dry afterwards.  I would not use these for healing chapped lips.  I have also tried them as a blush before.  It worked alright, the color showed up and it looked natural and everything but I didn’t like the feeling.  It really did feel like I rubbed lip balm on my face.

They have a lot more colors of these on Sephora and I would definitely recommend these to everyone!  I say give at least one a shot and I bet you will be wanting more!  $10 really is a great deal for these too.  I like lip balms that come in these little pots too, they’re cute and fun to use hehehe

Korres Gloss

So far the Korres glosses I have are the best and my most favorite I have ever tried.  The colors are excellent!  I only have 5 right now but if they weren’t $19 each I would have more!  I did not pay that much for each one of these…I actually got a good deal on them because I bought them as a set so it ended up lowering the price to under $10 each.

They have a lot of colors and they are all still available on Sephora.  They’re made with all natural ingredients just like all of their other products.  These are made with cherry oil and when you open them they smell like cherries.  Not fake candy cherries, real cherries!  The smell doesn’t last though, as soon as you put it on, the smell and flavor goes away and it’s just an unscented unflavored gloss.

They feel really smooth and nice.  They’re not too thick and not sticky at all!  Perfect consistency in my opinion (everyone is so different with the types of gloss feelings they prefer).  These last forever too!  Hours!  Which is good since the tubes are not very big.  And they are all pigmented just enough so that the color shows up on your lips without being super opaque like a lipstick.

I love these glosses!!!!

Temptu Highlighter Retouch

Temptu is an airbrush makeup system you can buy from Sephora.  It’s like $200 or something crazy like that and I’ve never been interested in that, but I did get this Temptu brand highlighter pen for free from Sephora.  It’s not a full sized pen, the real one is twice the size of this one (thickness wise) and the brush on the full sized one is like a huge foundation brush instead of this smaller one that looks like a lip brush.

You don’t have to have the Temptu system to be able to use these pens.  They come in a few different colors and the one I have is in the color gold.  I use this as a liquid bronzer.  It’s too dark on me to use it as a highlighter on my cheek bones or brow bones so I just use it all over my cheeks like a blush, then a little bit on my nose and forehead and it gives me a nice beachy looking bronzed glow.  It’s a light bronze color and a little bit shimmery so it’s perfect and I like to use it since it’s the only liquid bronzer I have right now.

It’s $40 freaking dollars to purchase the full sized version of this so I def won’t be buying a new one when I run out.  There are other brands of liquid bronzer for way cheaper out there.  I got a facial whip in a bronze color coming in the mail from elf as a free gift so I’m excited to try that out and see if I can use that from now on since it only costs $1!!! I LOVE elf and I can’t wait for my packages to get here ! <3

Tarina Tarantino Gem Gloss

This is in the color Disco Nap.  The tube is really cute and the color looks nice in the tube too.  I don’t really like this gloss though.  I do like the color a lot but when you actually put it on it smells so cheap like little girl’s play makeup.  Like a strawberry scent but it’s messed up…more like fake strawberries mixed with a plastic flavor.  The color doesn’t really show up all that great either so it’s more like a clear gloss with pink glitter.  I have other glosses that are clear with glitter so I don’t ever go for this one since my other glosses don’t stink like this one does.  There are other colors of this available on Sephora but I don’t know if they all smell the same.  You could always go to a Sephora store and try it out before you buy.  They cost $19 each and to me, for a gloss that I don’t like all that much, is way too much and I would never buy another of these.  Some people love these though and that’s cool, I just don’t and the price isn’t worth it to me.  Too bad since it looks super cute.
